Reconstitution calculator · KPV
KPV reconstitution calculator.
Work out the concentration of a reconstituted KPV vial. Presets match the 10 mg / 30 mg formats we stock, and the reference table below is calculated for those exact vials. Research use only.
This tool reports concentration only. It is not dosing guidance, and nothing here is for human use.
KPV concentration reference table
Every combination of the KPV vial sizes we stock and the bacteriostatic water volumes people most often add.
| Vial | BAC water | Concentration | Per 100 µL aliquot |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 mg | 1 ml | 10 mg/ml | 1 mg (1,000 mcg) |
| 10 mg | 2 ml | 5 mg/ml | 0.5 mg (500 mcg) |
| 10 mg | 3 ml | 3.333 mg/ml | 0.333 mg (333 mcg) |
| 10 mg | 5 ml | 2 mg/ml | 0.2 mg (200 mcg) |
| 30 mg | 1 ml | 30 mg/ml | 3 mg (3,000 mcg) |
| 30 mg | 2 ml | 15 mg/ml | 1.5 mg (1,500 mcg) |
| 30 mg | 3 ml | 10 mg/ml | 1 mg (1,000 mcg) |
| 30 mg | 5 ml | 6 mg/ml | 0.6 mg (600 mcg) |
How the calculation works
Concentration is the mass of peptide divided by the volume of solvent. A vial holding 5 mg reconstituted with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg/ml, so a 100 µL aliquot contains 0.25 mg. The powder itself adds no meaningful volume at these masses, which is why the water volume alone sets the concentration.
Handling in the Vietnamese climate
Sealed lyophilized vials are stable at room temperature in transit, which is why the material ships dry rather than cold. Once reconstituted, the solution is kept refrigerated and shielded from light. Bacteriostatic water is the usual solvent because the benzyl alcohol in it lets a vial be entered more than once.
What is KPV?
Three amino acids, about as small as a peptide gets.
KPV is lysine, proline, valine: three amino acids, and that is the entire molecule. It is the tail end of α-MSH, the same hormone that Melanotan II was built to imitate. The two compounds take opposite approaches to the same parent. Melanotan II keeps the pigment-signalling activity, while KPV keeps only this short fragment, which does not.
The research interest is precisely that separation: KPV appears in the literature around inflammatory signalling, without the melanocortin receptor activity of the larger molecule. Its small size is unusual and makes it easy to synthesise.

Common questions
What is KPV?
A tripeptide made of lysine, proline and valine. The tail fragment of the hormone α-MSH. It is one of the smallest peptides in the catalog. Listed here as a non-clinical research material.
How is KPV related to Melanotan II?
Both derive from α-MSH but take opposite approaches. Melanotan II imitates the hormone and keeps its pigment-signalling activity; KPV reproduces only the short tail fragment, which lacks that activity. Research interest in KPV centres on inflammatory signalling.
How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a KPV vial?
There is no single correct volume. The water volume sets the concentration: more water gives a weaker solution and a larger aliquot for the same mass. Common choices are 1 to 5 ml. Enter your vial size above to see what each volume produces for 10 mg / 30 mg.
What concentration does a KPV vial give?
It depends entirely on the solvent volume. The reference table above lists every combination of the 10 mg / 30 mg vial format and 1, 2, 3 and 5 ml of bacteriostatic water.
Does the powder change the final volume?
Not measurably at these masses. A few milligrams of lyophilized peptide occupies a negligible volume, so the bacteriostatic water you add is effectively the final volume.
Can I use normal water or saline instead?
Bacteriostatic water is the standard solvent for multi-entry vials because it contains a preservative. Sterile water and saline have no preservative, so they are single-entry solvents.
