Reconstitution calculator · Semax
Semax reconstitution calculator.
Work out the concentration of a reconstituted Semax vial. Presets match the 10 mg format we stock, and the reference table below is calculated for those exact vials. Research use only.
This tool reports concentration only. It is not dosing guidance, and nothing here is for human use.
Semax concentration reference table
Every combination of the Semax vial sizes we stock and the bacteriostatic water volumes people most often add.
| Vial | BAC water | Concentration | Per 100 µL aliquot |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 mg | 1 ml | 10 mg/ml | 1 mg (1,000 mcg) |
| 10 mg | 2 ml | 5 mg/ml | 0.5 mg (500 mcg) |
| 10 mg | 3 ml | 3.333 mg/ml | 0.333 mg (333 mcg) |
| 10 mg | 5 ml | 2 mg/ml | 0.2 mg (200 mcg) |
How the calculation works
Concentration is the mass of peptide divided by the volume of solvent. A vial holding 5 mg reconstituted with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg/ml, so a 100 µL aliquot contains 0.25 mg. The powder itself adds no meaningful volume at these masses, which is why the water volume alone sets the concentration.
Handling in the Vietnamese climate
Sealed lyophilized vials are stable at room temperature in transit, which is why the material ships dry rather than cold. Once reconstituted, the solution is kept refrigerated and shielded from light. Bacteriostatic water is the usual solvent because the benzyl alcohol in it lets a vial be entered more than once.
What is Semax?
A Russian-developed nootropic peptide, supplied as a powder vial.
Semax is a short synthetic peptide built from a fragment of the natural ACTH hormone. Specifically the ACTH(4-10) sequence, with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail attached. That tail matters: it is what stops enzymes from breaking the peptide apart immediately, and it strips out the hormonal activity that the parent ACTH molecule carries.
It was developed in Russia and is on the Russian medicines register, though it is essentially unknown to regulators elsewhere. Research attention centres on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) signalling. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder vial; a nasal spray is something the buyer prepares themselves by reconstituting the powder and transferring the solution to a spray bottle.

Common questions
What is Semax?
A synthetic heptapeptide based on the ACTH(4-10) fragment with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail added for stability. The tail also removes the hormonal activity of the parent ACTH molecule. Developed in Russia and listed here as a non-clinical research material.
How is Semax different from Selank?
They come from the same Russian research programme and share the stabilising Pro-Gly-Pro approach, but they have different parents: Semax derives from ACTH, Selank from the immune peptide tuftsin. Research interest in Semax centres on BDNF signalling; for Selank it centres on anxiety pathways.
How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a Semax vial?
There is no single correct volume. The water volume sets the concentration: more water gives a weaker solution and a larger aliquot for the same mass. Common choices are 1 to 5 ml. Enter your vial size above to see what each volume produces for 10 mg.
What concentration does a Semax vial give?
It depends entirely on the solvent volume. The reference table above lists every combination of the 10 mg vial format and 1, 2, 3 and 5 ml of bacteriostatic water.
Does the powder change the final volume?
Not measurably at these masses. A few milligrams of lyophilized peptide occupies a negligible volume, so the bacteriostatic water you add is effectively the final volume.
Can I use normal water or saline instead?
Bacteriostatic water is the standard solvent for multi-entry vials because it contains a preservative. Sterile water and saline have no preservative, so they are single-entry solvents.
