Reconstitution calculator · Melanotan II

Melanotan II reconstitution calculator.

Work out the concentration of a reconstituted Melanotan II vial. Presets match the 10 mg format we stock, and the reference table below is calculated for those exact vials. Research use only.

This tool reports concentration only. It is not dosing guidance, and nothing here is for human use.

Melanotan II concentration reference table

Every combination of the Melanotan II vial sizes we stock and the bacteriostatic water volumes people most often add.

10 mg2 ml5 mg/ml0.5 mg (500 mcg)

10 mg5 ml2 mg/ml0.2 mg (200 mcg)

How the calculation works

Concentration is the mass of peptide divided by the volume of solvent. A vial holding 5 mg reconstituted with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg/ml, so a 100 µL aliquot contains 0.25 mg. The powder itself adds no meaningful volume at these masses, which is why the water volume alone sets the concentration.

Handling in the Vietnamese climate

Sealed lyophilized vials are stable at room temperature in transit, which is why the material ships dry rather than cold. Once reconstituted, the solution is kept refrigerated and shielded from light. Bacteriostatic water is the usual solvent because the benzyl alcohol in it lets a vial be entered more than once.

What is Melanotan II?

A synthetic analog of the natural pigment hormone α-MSH.

Melanotan II is a cyclic synthetic analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), the natural signal that tells pigment cells to produce melanin. The natural hormone breaks down in minutes; closing the molecule into a ring made it stable enough to study.

It is non-selective, meaning it activates several melanocortin receptors rather than one. Which is precisely why PT-141, a more targeted compound, was later developed from one of its metabolites. It has no approval in any country and its published record is limited.

Common questions

What is Melanotan II?

A cyclic synthetic analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, the natural signal for melanin production. The ring structure makes it stable where the natural hormone breaks down in minutes. It is not approved in any country and is listed here as a non-clinical research material.

How is Melanotan II different from PT-141?

Melanotan II is non-selective. It activates several melanocortin receptors. PT-141 was developed from one of its metabolites and targets mainly MC4R in the central nervous system.

How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a Melanotan II vial?

There is no single correct volume. The water volume sets the concentration: more water gives a weaker solution and a larger aliquot for the same mass. Common choices are 1 to 5 ml. Enter your vial size above to see what each volume produces for 10 mg.

What concentration does a Melanotan II vial give?

It depends entirely on the solvent volume. The reference table above lists every combination of the 10 mg vial format and 1, 2, 3 and 5 ml of bacteriostatic water.

Does the powder change the final volume?

Not measurably at these masses. A few milligrams of lyophilized peptide occupies a negligible volume, so the bacteriostatic water you add is effectively the final volume.

Can I use normal water or saline instead?

Bacteriostatic water is the standard solvent for multi-entry vials because it contains a preservative. Sterile water and saline have no preservative, so they are single-entry solvents.
