What is Kisspeptin-10?
A ten-amino-acid fragment that sits one step above GnRH at the top of the reproductive hormone axis.
Kisspeptin-10 is the active C-terminal decapeptide of kisspeptin-54, the protein encoded by the KISS1 gene. The gene was found in 1996 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. As a metastasis suppressor, which is why the longer form is also called metastin, and why the whole family ended up named after the local chocolate.
Its place in endocrinology was settled by human genetics rather than by drug development. Loss-of-function mutations in its receptor, KISS1R (formerly GPR54), were found to cause hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Showing that kisspeptin signalling is the switch upstream of GnRH release, and therefore upstream of LH and FSH. Groups at Imperial College London and elsewhere have studied it in reproductive endocrinology since. It is not an approved medicine anywhere.

How does Kisspeptin-10 relate to HCG or PT-141?
All three touch reproductive or sexual-function research from different points. HCG acts far downstream, mimicking LH at the gonads. Kisspeptin-10 acts at the top of the axis, upstream of GnRH. PT-141 is a melanocortin peptide and works through an unrelated pathway in the central nervous system.
