What is Thymosin Alpha-1?
A 28-amino-acid peptide isolated from the thymus gland, studied for its role in immune signalling.
Thymosin alpha-1 is a naturally occurring 28-amino-acid peptide, acetylated at its N-terminus and cleaved from a larger precursor protein called prothymosin alpha. Allan Goldstein's group first isolated it from calf thymus extract in the 1970s while working out which fraction of thymus tissue carried its immune activity.
Research interest centres on how it influences immune cell behaviour rather than on suppressing or stimulating the system bluntly. Published work looks at dendritic cell maturation, T-cell differentiation and TLR9 signalling. Under the name thymalfasin it is a licensed medicine in a number of countries, though not in the United States. Do not read that as an endorsement of this listing: this vial is a research material, and nothing on this page is medical guidance.

What is Thymosin Alpha-1?
A 28-amino-acid peptide that occurs naturally in the thymus gland, first isolated in the 1970s and studied for its effect on immune cell signalling. Listed here as a non-clinical research material only, not for human use.
Is Thymosin Alpha-1 the same as TB-500?
No, and the shared word is misleading. TB-500 is a fragment of thymosin beta-4, an actin-binding protein studied in tissue research. Thymosin alpha-1 is a separate 28-amino-acid peptide from a different precursor, studied in immune research. They are unrelated molecules that happen to share a family name.
